- Cousin brothers Sanket and Sanmati Shendure of Goa come from a family of FMCG distribution business of more than three decades.
- The duo decided to use technology to enable local retailers to use digital and banking solutions. In July 2017, they founded MinksPay aimed at empowering offline retailers in the semi-urban and rural parts of India to earn more.
- Headquartered in Goa, the fintech services startup has an office in Bengaluru as well. While the founders invested Rs 50 lakh initially from their personal savings, the startup raised $150,000 from Mumbai Angels Network in September 2019. Former Chief Business Officer- Lending of BharatPe Pratekk Agarwal, and entrepreneur and Global Tech Executive Ravi Linganuri are advisors and investors in the startup.

- Union Minister of Railways, Communication and Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said India is poised to become the world leader in mobile handset manufacturing over the next few years and the 5G technology has progressed satisfactorily and will be rolled out this year.
- Vaishnaw said India has emerged as the 2nd largest manufacturer of mobile handsets in the world in terms of volume with 200 units manufacturing mobile handsets. The minister was addressing the media in Bhubaneswar.

- EV battery maker Nexus Power is developing batteries for electric two and three-wheelers from crop residue. The prototype is currently undergoing trials with EV manufacturers.
- A new study by CEEW Centre for Energy Finance has revealed that electric vehicles will be a $206 billion opportunity for India by 2030. But to make this happen, the country will need an estimated annual battery capacity of 158 GWh by FY30.
- It was to green this ambition and make a sustainable impact in the EV space that twin sisters Nishita and Nikita Baliarsingh launched an EV battery startup that upcycles agricultural waste. The duo launched Bhubaneswar-based Nexus Power in 2019 to provide battery technologies for electric vehicles.

- Meghalaya successfully tested Drone and UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) technology to transport finest quality turmeric from the remote villages of West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya to first nearby district headquarters so as it could reach the processing unit in Kerala in time.
- World’s best quality turmeric is produced in the West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, which has the highest curcumin content of 7-9 % (whereas this content is just 3 % in other varieties).
- This year the Ministry is targeting to procure more than 25,000 kg of turmeric from the region. “The buyer seller meeting organized under ODOP scheme led to the finalization of procurement orders for over 25,000 kgs, and it might increase further subject to final negotiations,” said a senior officer of the Ministry.

- The first private electric vehicle charging point was installed in South Delhi on February 6. A spokesperson said, "Under the AAP government's single-window facility, the first private EV charging point has been installed at a south Delhi resident's home under BSES discom BRPL area."
- The single-window facility seeks to facilitate the rapid expansion of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles at private and semi-public places like apartments, group housing societies, hospitals, malls and theaters in the city. The first private charging point was installed earlier this week at DDA Flats in south Delhi's Munirka, while the second one was installed next to it in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar, the BSES spokesperson said.
- Twelve vendors have been empanelled by the Transport Department for the installation of charging points. For the promotion and expansion of the private charging network, the government is providing a one-time subsidy of Rs 6,000 for the first 30,000 charging points. EV chargers can be purchased by consumers from the empanelled vendors through the single-window portal as per capex or subscription model.

- Kia India has surpassed another milestone by registering 1 lakh vehicles in exports since it started shipping Seltos in September 2019.
- Since the beginning, till January 2022, the company has exported an accumulated 1,01,734 vehicles. In CY2021, the company shipped over 46,261 units, registering a 23 percent Y-o-Y increase in exports. Kia India also became the number one UV exporter in the country, with a market share of over 25 percent.
